ONLY WHEN I’M GONE

At times I try to sit and talk

        To you about some things

And tell you that I often think

Of what the future brings

But I don’t think you even see

How things are now tonight

For if you looked at us you’d see

That things are not alright

CHORUS

I guess if you cannot see

Then you can’t understand

You say it’s only me who see

Things the way I can

For me it is so plain to see

What’s missing for so long

I wonder if you’ll finally see

Only when I’m gone

        You probably saw I posted

On the refrigerator door

Thought maybe we might do some things

Like we used to before

I’m hoping I might find my way

Back into your heart

And try to stop what we once had

From falling all apart

CHORUS…
I guess if you cannot see

Then you can’t understand

You say it’s only me who see

Things the way I can

For me it is so plain to see

What’s missing for so long

I wonder if you’ll finally see

Only when I’m gone
